I'm looking at a nice yellow GTE and Im considering buying it. I've also been told that a Cavalier's 2.0 8v will fit in and plug straight into the GTE's loom and brain. Is this correct? Also, are there any FWD Vauxhalls fitted with a Limited Slip Diff as standard?

You really are on form today camb!

the bigblock will fit, front drivers mount needs moving down about and inch and an F10 box does fit, fitted on mine with the starter in the 'other' bolt pattern, although there is a bit of casting that prevents the drivers shaft going fully in, grind 3-4mm off that and you are away. Use the Cav loom and brain.

better still, why not use the cav Sri CR box as well. me thinks for it to be a super quick 2 litre, change the fd on the cr box to a nova diff and weld in the pinion gear, think somewhere was suggesting this some time ago.

Na, I'll just stick to the GTE's engine. Its all a bit ccomplex sounding!!

Nova GTE - 100bhp

Cav 2.0 8v - 115bhp (or 130 if u find an sri one)

For 15bhp more is it worth changing the engine? why not fit carb's to your gte, that will give you power very close to the 2.0.

i know the 2.0 with have quite a bit more torque though.

Na' over in my country the back raods, forestrys and ditches are littered with SRi's. I think carbs are the way forward. Any bigger VX's got a carb to fit, I'm doing this one on a tight budget.

it will also have a lot more weight for very little power increase, 15bhp isnt hard to get out of the GTE engine

You won't get any increase probably lose power if you convert GTE to a carb, you'll need the webber 40s. But then again you said your on a budget. Money wise though if you do things like porting head, 4 branch, high lift cam and so forth, its prob going to cost more than the 40s, so think about it.

Thanks Johnny. Since you're down the road a bit from me, you know where a man could land some parts for a Nova or two?

Few standard mk2 novas scrapped here, and i know of one 1300 sr and 1 GTE, altough vauxs are great, mix and match loads of parts from astra's carbs so forth. We've plenty of cav sri's here as well, you should get the disc and calipers of one for some really good brakes on your nova. The scraped GTE still has is engine and box but shell is shot. And the Nova SR has got its box with an 4.18 FD, would fit straight on to your gte. If you need anything let me know, I could arrange courrier to bring bigger parts to you or post smaller ones. Oh yeah a few cav 2.0 sri engine here as well.

why not fit carb's to your gte.

I think thats the best way to go, and when i say carb's obviously i mean Twin 40's. That will give you 10-15bhp more straight away.
