i took the head off of my 1.2 to replace a dead lifter and rocker follower. having replaced all i want to replace and cleaned it up a bit, i now need to know two things. how to i time it all up, and what are the head bolt torque number si should know? thanks for any help as ive lost my haynes manual. i think to time it a get number 1 piston to TDC and then the timing mark on the cam pulley to the top and whap it all together but thought i should check. its a 1.2 carb ohc. thanks for any help!!!!
if i had my manuals at the flat, id drop one over to you since your only 5 mins down the road from hertford lol
no1 to tdc (mark should be on the bottom pulley and the pointer on the block.
and the cam will have alignment marks on it (cant remember where for sure)
yeah you line the cam pully up with its tdc mark on the cam cover and with the no1 piston at tdc get the bottom pully marks lined up,
as for the torque i think its 20ft,lbs then you have to turn each bolt another 3 times each at 60 degrees. (check that one out before you do it as im not sure

do what M.D says but to 25nm, that is what i use but im sure 20lbf ft will be fine. And the three 60 degree turns.

mine used to be a 1.2spi haynes said to torque it to 18lbs 3 times in the right sequence, yeah as mentioned it think its 60degress on the angular gauge 3 times
umm its impossible to do 18lbs in 3 times lol
Yeah it is 18 lbs/ft, in sequence. I don't have a new torque wrench so it has to be in lbs/ft.
Then 60degrees 3 times, in sequence.
My 1.8 lump had to have 90degrees 3 times but the last was done after a run in of 5 mins. That was tight lol, out with me 3ft bar.
