Is it just me or do Total Vauxhall take forever to feature your car
I was in contact with Matt Joy in May of this year and he said he would love to feature my car, and he would be in contact fairly soon to organize a time and place for the photo shoot,
Great I thought my first feature nearly there
So I waited ................and waited...................and waited some more
Then I decided to give then another call, (in July)
Answer - "we have not forgot about you we are planning a week in NI end of August start of september bah bah bah etc etc... we will be in contact"
So I am waiting.........waiting...........and still waiting
I was really looking forward to my first feature, but I think the excitment has been knocked out of it abit,
What do you think???
Should I shut up and just be patient??
or
Should I call them again for the third time??
or
Should I forget about it and move on and try other mags??
(if so which one??)
I AM AT A LOSS :? :?
or be happy to not be in any mags

Mate Matt Joy has left TVX about a month ago and apparently, after speaking to his replacement (whoever he is), has left all the work behind and its a bit "chaoic" at TVX head Q. I would ring them again as they have had the editor and now the features editor leave recently so it wouldn't suprise me if they had forgotten. They have certainly forgotten about the photographs they said they'd send to me, so I'll have to give them a ring again myself.
Good luck.
And Cambridge. No.
be happy you've got a sweet lookin ride!
at the end of the day did you build your car to be a mag chaser an get in mags or to make yourself happy?
i built mine to make me happy if a mags features it i spose it's a bonus :? but i wouldn't go chasing about for it

Yeah, but Alex has that car over 8 years, thats a hell of alot of blood sweat and tears. To have it all featured in a mag is something special you can keep and show the kids/grandchildren!
Keith
No offence meant here but Alex's nova DESERVES a feature.....
Anyone who builds a car to that spec and finish has gotta have a platform for people to see it properly!

Do you want you nova in a mag that had a nasty marble effect corsa on the cover a few issues back?
TVX used to be good, then Jon Walsh joined and it went so far down hill i cannot be arsed walking down there to get a copy  Used to be good, have good cars in but now its shit, the guides are bollocks and they seem to make the features up with more shit in them than max power. Rick

not wanting to sound too much like the bad guy (but i will probably end up that way) or cause offence to anyone that's had one but,
most revs/max/fast car features now are all about how many stickers/graphics an that sort of thing are on a car, rather than how much effort has gone into a car to build it.
The best way to get a feature in the way you want it to set up a website about the car that way you can have it how you want an everything you want to say can be said rather than have some editer change what you say to suit the mag.
just my 2p worth
here here
some of the best cars, on here and other sites wouldnt EVER be eligeable for any of these tat mags. since they were built for use not show etc
CCC might have considered them at one time but they dont print anymore lol
Quite a few of us are in maxpower
personally i think total vaux are a bunch of wankers now. they refused to come to the mikey meet, as it would be old news by the time they printed it.
i would say, just out of respect for them coming to the meet. go with revs.
but as everyone else said. you built the car to enjoy.

Very true.
Problem is, they will probably fill 2 pages with a huge pic of the keyhole on his fuel cap. Then one or two tiny shots of the car, a shot the size of a pea of his rocker cover etc..
Keith
Well,
Cambridge, I did leave but now i'm back
Rick, I agree that Walshy ruined a fair mag, did features on his mates cars and left, but they do still have the odd nugget of gold in the mag (Euro look xe, german astra mk1 etc) so I still read it. Note I didn't say "i still BUY it!"
I also look at max, revs, redline and fast car. I don't buy any of them cos they feature too many chequebook cars (eg Jamie Shaw/carisma Jet Mackenjie/Calibre)..... and even more plastic/fibreglass/saxo/corsa/all...look...the...fucking....same.......
White-nova, if you don't want a feature, that's fine. Some of us do!!!! Nobody is making you out to be wrong!! Good for you for sticking your 2p in!!! ps got any pics of your car???
Anyway, I only buy Performance VW and The Golf+, and Fast Ford/Performance Ford
All 4 of those mags are excellent, and I think that it's because they each have a direct competitor so they can't fford to get it wrong, cos you'll buy the other mag!!!!
TVX would improve if they had a rival mag....
Oh, and CCC were snobs. They used to always slag modded road cars owned by youngsters ("Boy racers") and ICE ("Adds weight") and polished cages ("Adds weight and not safe"), and call nova's "The archetypal boy racer car". Then they featured Martin Kelsons car...
It was a nova.....
Had a nice install.......
And a polished cage...........
(Pause before delivering the last line like Jeremy Clarkson.........)
And they loved it!!!!
be happy you've got a sweet lookin ride!

Well said, i feel the same way. I built my car for me and I'll be happy once it's run in and running well. I'd like to attend some shows next year as I was unable to this year.

Here my bit
I built my car for myself and enjoyed building it with my friends, without them i probably would be driving round in an every day car. We push each other to allways better our own standards and learn a thing or 2 along the way, never thinking that would gain a feature.
I consider my car as a show car as this is the only time i really use it apart from track days. Because i keep it immaculate doesnt mean the car isnt driven hard, and it annoys me some times when i hear comments from people at shows like 'i bet it never sees the road'. A car is there to be driven and driven hard regardless of how much it cost. I could think of a few that never move
I never set out with the intention of getting features with my car but i have been asked and now i have seen it in print its something i can keep forever. It beats any photo i have of the car no matter how big the feature is or how small the picture is in a magazine. And i dont care what magazine it is, its all appreciating the hard work we all put in.
Features have allowed me to meet people i wouldnt have maybe spoke to before as they know the car form the article and want to know more about certain aspects of it.
Shame magazines arent as good as they used to be when i was a lad
Rick, the only ones are buy are ford and golf mags, think they could all learn a thing or 2 from these.
Hope i didnt bore you 2 much
Hear hear Karl! My sentiments exactly!
The reason I wanted to see white-nova's car is because he said he built his for himself, not for show/mags, so I was interested to see what it looked like.......
rick i don't know exactly what you are implying but i never built mine for mags just wanted a nice car i could be prowd of,
i saw the bits i wanted an am in a position where i easily afforded to make it look how i wanted in the words of martin luther-king ''i had a dream'' lol
if you read my post i never said that i was against mags just that i wouldn't go chasing after them for a feature.
as karl said any pics in mags are things which can be kept either to boast about or as a reminder in years to come of the acheivements made.
I'm not implying anything negative!!!
I wrote "If you don't want a feature, that's fine. Some of us do!!!! Nobody is making you out to be wrong!! Good for you for sticking your 2p in!!! ps got any pics of your car???"
The only thing that implies is that I thought you had a right to your opinion, and that I wanted to have a look at your car. You have an intriguing pic of a flip-painted car in your sig, and no feature in your profile, so the only way to see your car is to ask!!!
WAKE UP
the pics above are his car
getting in a mag is ok, but building specifically for and chasing them is a tad sad and ADDish lol
I like to rely on my good looks to get me in the mags  i dont agree with building a car for that purpose. my 2p
Cool.....
I am awake, cambridge. I saw the pics, I was just answering White-nova's question. Did you not read the whole post???
Mag's are great to show people what you have done. I don't have my nova anymore but I will have my mag features won't I?
Not everyone wants mag features, I understand that! But not everybody likes fibreglass covered cars, XE engines, LET's, Bucket seats, ICE, 17"s, roll cages etc. That's what I love about the modified car scene. Do it your own way abd fuck what everyone else thinks!!!
I never built my nova for mags, I built it to humiliate BMW drivers on the M62. It was supposed to stay black, with standard looks and a set of wheels.... Next thing I knew it had 17"s, buckets, ICE, colour change etc etc etc etc
When I had my REVS feature, it was still a decent mag. No porn, no 1.1 saxo's with 19" wheels and no jap-style fiesta's!!
Likewise with TVX, it was still agood mag, and In the same issue was Richard Phelps Lotus Cavalier and the german supercharged Calibra v6. Truly diverse machines!!!
I am enjoying this thread immensely! I think that it's great that we have a diverse bunch of people on the site!

I tell you what we should start collecting these 2p's in, we could afford to build a feature car with them!

I couldnt agree more Karl.
I've kept going with my car cos i enjoy the social aspect at the shows. I try to chat to as many new people as i can, its much more enjoyable than pissing my money against a wall every night.
Keith
Am i missing something cos I didn't notice any bitching.... just opinions.

Features not everything i suppose.
Was nice personally to have my car featured.
But on the whole i didnt give a toss to be honest.
Main thing is i enjoyed the car. and others did to. Im not fussy at all about things. The new car will be the same. Use it and abuse it. And probably will mag feature it. But it aint life or death.
For me its nice when your at a show and someone actually comments on your car. Makes the hard work worth. altho at the moment i could quite easily burn the new shell as some of the jobs are being a bastard.!

Very interesting and diverse comments here.
I know a lot of you think 'mag-slag' (Epo I believe came up with that one) but I did build the car for me as I wanted it - not for what the magazines want. It was the bodyshop that suggested I get in touch with Redline. TVX and the German magazine got in contact with me.
I drive it everyday and it lives outside in all weathers on the drive - stupid some may argue but storing it is not possible, not even in a garage overnight.
Magazines are one of the ways I will remember the car in it's current guise, long after the shell has rusted away and petrol is contraban due to its shortages in the years to come. I cannot and never will win any prizes or trophies for the car at shows and competitions because it is driven all the time and does pick up the knocks and scratches that everyday cars always do, and therefore will never be concours condition.
Magazines are my way of showing it off. And anyone who says they wouldn't accept recognition in the form of a magazine feature is a liar.
