hi all,

basically im after some part time work whilst im at college, in order to fund my car, as my insurance is coming up for renewal, as is tax and all that, plus I would actually like a bit of money to spend for myself...

Just wondered if anyone works at halfords, mainly part time kinda work, weekends / evenings??
What kind of hours do u work, wage, what kind of interview etc etc etc.

cheers for any advice

just go down there and ask them for an application, usually even if they aren't hiring at the moment, they will take your details anyway and then get back to you.

I did it when I was in college, I went to just about every takeaway, bar, car shop etc and just filled in a shit load of forms, then accepted the job that paid the most for the least amount of hours!! :D

hiya

as john says really. pop into a local store and ask if they got any jobs going.

As far as working for them goes, they are no better and no worse than many other companies around, so go for it :)

I work at the frauds....and I love it!

Not a SOUL in that shop knows a thing about cars.....so I'm revered as a god to them!

You can tell by lookin at the carpark which car's are owned by employees!

At out place we have a 306 with stupidly huge body kit, shitty alloys, broken elextric windows, tescos trolley handle boot spoiler + is a rattly diseasel.

Also a 1.4 Nreg Astra 5 door with shit loads of audio gear, black bumpers + Pro race 2 alloys.

1.2 new corsa with 17" Oz Super T's, 4x4 ride height + an induction kit

Err..... a 1.0 Mk3 fiesta half dressed up as a XR2i.

And my XR2.

It's quite funny really!

If you work there...you get to the same point that I'm at, I refuse to sell stuff to chav's who really dont know what they're doing and/or are sticking crap onto their cars....it's called snobbery apparently!

a mate at uni's bird went for an interview at the swansea branch

she was asked in the interview what "PCD" meant, and she answered "no idea" and she got the job.

he was embarressed as he ahd told her what it meant as he was calculating the pcd's for the forumula student car and its all he went on about for weeks lmao

at the end of the day its a service fluid and stick on stuff shop. so you dont need to be an expert, it just helps though if you want to be a snob ;)

Ask at the till! They normally keep application forms behind there.

As for what to wear?! Dress smart. I wore trousers shirt & tie. Wore trainers though...but I can get away with that because I got the art of the interview technique down to a T! ;)

try this for size then.

scooby sport owner come into my store when i worked in chester and bought an RGM fake Subaru bonnet vent to fit to his car. I sincerely hope it was an expensive joke and he wasnt serious..

and as for the pay and hours, it seems to be similar rate to equivilent jobs in other places..
