Also, does anyone know if a courtney cam with 260 duration would be a good cam for use with weber t40's?

The bolt pattern will fit, but the port shape is different (sport has cathedral port GSi has round port) so it's not brill, it would be better to buy the manifold correct for the job. With carbs you can run any cam you want it's just a question of how high you can rev it and how drivable you want the car to be.

How driveable do you think it would be with a 260 duration cam? Would it idle quite lumpy etc?

a 260 deg cam really isnt worth it imho.

your best off with atleast a 280/85 cam or better. as for "lumpy idle" jim has a 300 degree cam and it idles smoother than my std 1.2 did lol

lumpy idle appears to be an old wives tale.

a 260 is very mild, for carbs you want about a 280-290!! and again the port shapes dont match for a 1300 to a 1600!!

Okay cheers mate, just got some t40's off of ebay so a cam and head work are now a must! I'll go for a 280 or 290 then and get the right manifold. Cheers

i modified my sri(same as 1600) head to fit a 1300 manifold, not too much work

Is it worth the effort though? Any extra benefits (better flow?). How did you go about doing it-could it be abit risky, e.g fooking it up and having a srewed head? Because that'd make my day quite bad :o

i did it because i had a manifold and a head and it was cheaper than buying a new manifold
