In the middle of a bad stretch of windy twisty road, my 1200 SX started coughing and spluttering like a drunken homeless person. I tryed 2 different coils in it and its not that. I havent had the chance to look at it properly just yet. Any tips or ideas before I burn it?

New Plugs 250 miles ago and leads 500. It wouldn't start this morning, kept barreling over and then started. Same again at lunch time. Drove it hard out the road to give her a good redding out and she started acting up, the B1TCH!!

How could it be the battrey, altenator or the earth, its starting but'll only run or 3,2 or 1 cylander and then it'll stall.

Fuel starvation? Blocked fuel filter?

sounds like what my car was like. You need to check the timing with a strobe and connect the car up to an emissions testing machine to set the carb. Remember to advance the timing to run unleaded. If it still runs on three cylinders change to 4 prong plugs. Further more....check the dizzy cap etc

Shes running 4 pronged plugs but no K&N though. I'm reckoning on the dizzy. And I managed to get one very similar of a Cav, so fingers crossed, although I never thought on the fuel starvation though. Cheers mates, milky bars and Jack Daniels are on me!!

just because a part is new, it doesn't mean it's working correctly

Water in the dizzy cap maybe?

Run a compression test as well, it may not be ignition system related.

Got it sorted, it was the dizzy the whole time. Stuck a Cav item in place, swapped over ccaps and now I'm flying, well apart from slightly off timing but that'll be sorted soon though.
