its like installing a small block bersion of the 20XE

ie you need to use the wiring loom and so on, splice in.

physically it fits fine.

oh and dont forget the PATS stuff ;) or you aint going anywhere

being a corsa engine it will fit straight in mounting up wise. The wiring will be the only problem.

How much do these engines go for? What are the tuning possibilities (spelling) i'd quite fancy one of these in mine

Well I've been told e600 for the whole car but its wreaked, a roll or something. So e600 is what, about 25p Sterling?? Hey, its a 1.4 16valve Nova, not too common so I might just try it!!

PATS = Passive Anti Theift System

ie immobiliser in the key and transponder in the ign area

170bhp? No way, you'd scare some Scoobys with that. Where'd you get that info? :D

i think there is a guy running a 177bhp 1.4 16V in his Nova (its a rally car)...

dont get me wrong these engines are the absolute b*llocks and cost...ahhh...let just say, alot...but they show whats possible.

BigRuss off this site is currently having a 170bhp-spec 1.4 16v built to replace his 162bhp 1.6 8v engine that he is running at the moment. They are both N/A engines so no turbo's.

There was a 1.6 16v with throttle bodies producing 200bhp. You can get some serious bhp from these engines, just a case of having a big enough wallter.

I run one of these engines. I paid ?250 for it with gearbox and everything.
Since then it has:
40mm parallel TB's
Flowed head with high flow bronze guides
ARP rod bolts
One off ashely prototype 4-1manifold on to a 2.25" system (all ashely)
and I use emerald eneigne management.
In a stripped out nova it leads for a very fast car.
Next I'm putting 285deg cams in and then it will run in the region of 150-160 out of it. But it's pretty expensive. The engine is one of the cheap things of the list there.
I'nly thing I've found which may be the same for the 8v engines, when you hold the rev high for any amount of time th eoil getss very hot and I had to fit a 13row oil cooler to keep things in good shape.
Good luck.

Well praise the loward! Those engines are dirt cheap over here. Its about time something was cheaper over here!! 170brake in a 1.4 Nova, Mental!!!

Think about it, a wee light 1400cc engine pushing out 170 brake. There'd be fxck all weight and she'd teke corners like a thief running from the cops!!

Funny you should say that, mine got nicked last christmas and the polie BMW chasing couldn't keep up in a straight line, only caught it cause they ran out of few 5mins up the road and bailed out.

There'snot much left std, lets put it that way. Yeah got it back the next day with broken door lock, and no other damage, took it as a good sign and lock it away most of the time now.

if you go to www.roybacer.net theres a how 2 section in there forum, in there is a quick guide to fittin a 1.6 16v to a nova and the 1,4 is the same really, and the transponder/immobiliser thing is quite easy to do anyway so you may aswell have it

That was Velo's calim, which was later reduced to 160BHP, which just about fits for the engines I know of. 150-160 anyways, and if you stick it on a 1.6 bottom then it's about 170-180 (velos calimed 210)

Still was a very very fast little car, very heavy due to the mega cage it had in it, and the F20 it had in there. But it's been broken a few years ago now.
RIP :(
