Number plate light help

Ive got the back of my car smoothed off, And Abyss back bumper and i have the number plate attatched to this. Whats the best way of lighting it up without making it look stupid, i have the led bolts on it but the cops pulled me for them. I need a light that shines on the whole thing but doesnt really affect the look of the bumper

I used a Ford Escort Van rear number plate lamp when I had a smoothed boot and number plate attatched to the tailgate, it looked pretty nice when it was colour coded
