Me and MC did Pod on Sunday again. Saw 1 or 2 familiar faces there but there was a big crowd so missed some of the Nova boys.
They've got to do something about how many they get in to run up the strip. We were still waiting for our second run way past 2pm and eventually only managed 4 runs in all before 5.00pm x-(
Still we made the most of it although I badly cocked up 2 of my runs. I was pleased to post a PB of 15.174 but the 15 barrier remained elusive particularly for MC whose front tyres are pretty worn and were giving him worse wheel slip than normal.
We managed between us to dispose of some "opposition" including a Renault 5 GTT, a Volvo 860, and an Ford RST supposedly with 200hp. He went and parked up after I'd beaten him lmao!
I got wasted by a mini with a rear mounted RST engine and rear wheel drive pushing out ( so he told me) getting on for 400hp?? (with Nitrous)
Most impressive car of the day was a yellow rocket powered funny car - 5.99sec 250mph.

I was there for the weekend and ran up the stip on sunday, but the ignition kept cutting in 3rd and 4th - much dissapointment.

CP! Did I talk to you? do you have the white 1.4sr 2.016v?

No m8. I've got a red 1.4SR 1.68v with CC Red GTE bumpers. Wot were you in? We saw sum other Novas going up the strip but I'd didn't see who was driving what. Incidently another grumbling point - why is the queue for the strip so far from the track so you don't have much chance to see wots running?? I heard it was something to do with a safety lane but its seems bonkers to have vans and trucks obscuring a lot of it parked up next to the track??

Yeah right! That was the only downer. No time to watch the other cars goin up and down coz you've got to keep moving forward (slowly).

I was in my b reg red 2.0 16v. But only got the chance to talk to one other fellow nova owner.

May sort out my problems with the car ready for 18th and have another go.

But I'll tell ya m8. It ain't comfirtable sleeping in the back of a stipped out nova when your 6foot 7inches tall and only have a picnic rug for a cover to try and keep warm!!

What times did u get Austin?

Problems with the ignition on the car meant that it wasn't pulling in 3rd and 4th and 5th. Fastest time was a very poor 16.1. Will get this sorted for nov 18th though - definatly looking for times in the 14's.

**cos 16valve is more powerfull with more torque**:)

1.6 doing 15.1 1/4 miles or a 2.0 16v on carbs doing 16.1 1/4 miles? Hmmm let me think! I'll take on any valver around a race track with confidence.

Only light hearted, I know a valver on carbs if running properly will be quicker, but I stand by a small block engine around a track.

fair enough. got to consider that I've got a few teething props atm with my carbs and ingnition though... Then with the right suspension setup and anti roll bars beefed up, she'll handle like a beauty and accererate out of the corners harder and faster. (gotta consider that the fastest rallycross cars - running on both tarmac and gravel - use the 16v engine though) :)

Nova run. That was me!!!
