Dash lights are dim

i have white lockwood dials in my nova gte and the back lights are red but they are really dim.i can barely see em.why is this do ya htink?

because the back lights have been painted red - what have they been painted with or were they red bulbs

or the bulbs are gettin old try replacing them and any that have blown

I'd say it was the paint and if they had blown it would be completely dark in certain areas of the dash. Mine was a MK1 and had 5 bulbs behind it I think, might be different for the GTE? I would say get a bigger Wattage bulb (brighter) but I couldn't overly recommend it - the nightmares I had with re-wiring my dash loom proved all the bulbs are wired in parallel and in theory should accept a slightly bigger Wattage bulb, try it BUT don't relie on it.
