The backing lights that light the gauges up are'nt working, is this a simple case of the bulbs having blown?

id say fuse mate, mine did exactly same thing its rare for all the bulbs to go at same time, check the fuse, it should be a green 30 amp fuse, if thats any help

the fuse would stop the whole dial set from working.

yeah as paul said the whole dial unit would not work and the fuse also powers your stereo so is this still workin :D and 30 amps :o more like 15 i think
