Exhausts are changed and developed to improve the performance of a vehicle, noisy ones are in most cases annoying, but we all go through the phase of noisy exhausts.
I don't have a car anymore but my last one had a motorbike exhaust on which I'm sure reduced backpressure allowing more exhaust gases to escape and suck more fuel/air mix in. Anyway it wasn't over the top and sounded sweet.

It's all personal preference.

if you want a performance exhuast, why not buy one, cherry bombs are just there to be noisy. Why not buy one that has had time and money into the design so it works best with that car.

Try ashley or your more common (but more expensive Magnex, scorpion etc)

they are cheap and cheerfull ! they dont make your car faster ( well not noticable ) but make a right noise! if you only wand loudness go for it

to be honest, i think cherry bombs are nice. I've got one on mine and have the cat and middle box removed, replaced with piping. With the 40s aswell it sounds like an all out rally Mk2 Escort. Its a really nice sound but is well loud, i dont mind thats just the way i like it, when using engine breaking it make a high pitched zsss sound like type r civics or toyota 4age

about 40 quid, u can usually buy em from ne tacky car shop, there near the neon washer jet section, but y not save urself some money and just take ur backboxes off?

well if reducing back pressure gives you more power, which all preformance exhausts are made to do, would a cherry bomb not be more effective since it has no baffles, just a fiberglass packing round the sides? Striaght thru design? Honestly i don't see why people don't like them, loud exhasuts are nice on a preformance engine, not just a ussual bore drone sound, and when i fitted my cherry bomb on my performnace exhaust exhaust system i can honestly say it made a difference. Car revs alot more freely now as well

look y dont u just get your dads drill out drill a hole in the exhaust system or blow the exhaust. then save for a complete new stainless steel high performance one ?!?!?!?!?!

badboy, it dose'nt matter if you buy a perfromance backbox at ?200 or a cherry bomb at ?50 it will do the same thing, can you really expect any backbox to give you any significant (sp?) power increase. Go ahead and get a cherry bomb its as good as anyother backbox power wise. If its more power you want get a full system. Badboy has probaly tried boring holes in his exhaust and it give him 20bhp more

Just a point. I have an Ashley backbox off a Corsa SRi and its way louder than anythin else when you hit the revs but below 2500 it has a really nice burble (spelling) off it.

yeah in general ashleys are loud, good power too, fitted a ashley system to my dads vectra sri140 made a amazing difference to power considering its only a exhaust.
