I'm gonna strip the head and t40's and all the suspension kit off. i think i'm gonna rebuild it all on a 3dr, i do like mk2 astra's though. will the parts fit as i know mk2 astra's share a lot of common components
oooh crap thats not good, what happened?

So was you going to fast and couldnt stop in time for roundabout, is that why you locked up ?

yer i'm fine bruv!
every since i lowered the car and but 2lt cav brakes on it i've had problems with the front wheels locking up. whether it was a problem with suspension geometry or just shit tyres i'm not sure but the slightest bit of grip or damp and it just locks up.
i was driving quick but not over the top. its difficult to drive slow with t40's
Well, judging by your footer you like to drive fast. Maybe this will teach you a lesson? It's a harsh lesson, but the 2 speeding tickets didnt seem to do the trick.
For the record it is easy to drive slow with 40's. I've had them for a few years and could easily drive around town at slow speed. Theres only your right foot controlling the speed you go.

i'm sorry but i just can't help but drive fast. i know i'm gonna get wrecked for pushing up peoples insurance etc. but why spend thousands on an engine to make it fast and then drive like an oap
Track days and 1/4mile days are there if you want to drive your car fast.
I can't help thinking that you've already had 2 speeding tickets, now you've crashed into a car, is it a matter of time before oyu kill someone?
Just think about what speed your doing. If this engine is too fast for you, then maybe you should get something with a little less power.

maybe, i think i can drive good. i just take too many risks (i.e late braking) i always learnm the hard way. a couple of months without my car will help me put things into perspective

Well, judging by your footer you like to drive fast.
Was just thinking that! lol

yer, the engine is fine, just f**ked the bodywork, bend bothe control arms and ball joints.
its all repairable but not worth since nova's are so cheap these days
I have t40s on my 1.4, i regularly pull 100miles to ?10 worth of petrol, its easy to drive slow with them, theres a time and a place.
Track days, 1/4 miles are all good, i'm not saying i never drive fast on public roads, because i do, but when its quiet and when you know your car, brakes etc is the time and place.

If you regularly lock your front wheels then the weak point in your braking system is the grip on the road, mabey you need wider tyres or tyres that perform better in the wet?
On my m8s mk1 nova 1.2L it had standard 145s and it was dangerous ion the wet tbh, fitted some Cav SXi alloys with balloon 195's cheaply and sorted the grip.

Huh?
Contradiction in terms.
You think you drive well - Ok most people think they do, but you then say that you know that you take too many risks!!
So you know that you takes risks which makes you a bad driver yet you still think you're a good driver?
Time to take those blinkers off my friend.
Glad you didn't get hurt, or more importantly hurt anyone else in your crash, but like Jim says - what's it gonna take for you to slow down? Knocking someone over?
I had a T40'd 1.6 for a couple of years, and although it is nice to drive them at full chat there is a time and a place for these things, where it's not appropiate to speed around you have to drive accordingly or you'll find yourself in the situation you're currently in (or worse).
It's just as easy to drive slow with T40's as it is anycar, if anything I preffered to rumble around at a low speed as they do gurgle nicely at some lower ends of the rev range.

i drive fast..... but i don't skimp on tyres or brakes
so 6 points in under 2 years, bye bye license and also this crash?
hmm you'll be without ANY car for a year surely
or can you jsut reapply for a license and then get back to reaking havoc on the roads?
ps where do you live? i need to avoid that area
NONE of us are holier than thou but there is indeed a time and a place for messing about.
Now it's a while ago I can add to this post, they say for you to slow down, maybe this will help.

^^^ I think pictures like that should make people think, but the arogance of indivduals today I doubt it will make a difference. They will only learn when they are dead. At the end of the day you can kill someone doing 5mph in dry, 'perfect' weather. Driving like a idiot is not an excuse, ever.

Ouch! that looks nasty......
shame. but glad you are ok.
What is it with all you mk1 owner/killers? :(

driving slow sith T40's is easy.
60% of the time when i'm driving is spent between 1000 and 2100rpm!
there's so much torque there that its only when you want to go over 50mph that I go up into the 3-4k band.
Yea it was a bit nasty but don't worry Mel...it was a MKII lol
The worst bit was the driver getting out, the footwell reduced by around 50%.
And the brand new tyres were on the front and the ones on drive side is completely buggered, rim split/bent inwards, looks like I'll actually have to buy some tyres .
It is easier to drive slower in a more powerful car because of the low end you get, no need to scream it, can just plod along nicely.

well said....if its wet and you know you wheels can lock up regularly why drive hard? Enough said!!!
Yea it was a bit nasty but don't worry Mel...it was a MKII lol

i got a kent ast2. there's fuck all power below 3000 rpm. i know its no excuse though
make of cam dont mean diddly afraid mate, and pleaing with that particular one is even worse as alot on here run that cam, myself included in my 1.6 so alot know what the cam is capable of
indeed, dont belive the spec sheets of the cam!
ok you get a mild "kick" but nothing mega noticeable (unless you run a stupid setup like CP or Chris T)
so dont be a "bad work man who always blmes his tools"
