well, 110k was reached today and my alternator is rattly as fuck.
are there some bearing in there and if so are they the most likely cause?
and more importantly, what are the cheapest remedies :?:

If you look around the rim of the alternator , you should come across the numbers either '45' or '55' or '65' . This the amp rating of the alternator and the time it would take to recharge a flat battery, for example a 55 will recharge a 55 amp battery in an hour , the '45' would take longer for the same battery the '65' less.
Novas without electric windows and other bling stuff are quite happy with a '45' ah alternator.
but a GTE for example would have a 55 ah .
The 65ah is not really needed for standard production novas,
but if you have a big watt stereo system, live in Lapland and your thinking of putting a diesel engine in it, then it might come in handy.

Of course you can use even higher rating alternator, but you don't get anything for nothing and these can nick even more of your BHP.

it won't take much more bhp... just whats needed to spin the extra weight

i've gone for a bigger one and bigger batt cause i'm allways jump starting cars or using my winch!
