im in the middle of doing my lessons and am now ready to buy a car and have gone for the Nova 1.2 merit, i mean obviously i wanna do it up but i have no knowledge on cars whatsoever so please excuse these few questions as some of them may sound silly to you anyway here goes:

*How many gears does a nova 1.2 have
*say i buy a standard nova and i buy a body part for it eg front bumper, how do i get it the same colour as the car where do i go etc, and how would it be fitted is this easy?
*I want a cherry bomb are these loud!
*whats the insurance like and whos the best company to go to

1. depends on the model you have
2. all parts are interchangable and you would take them to a bodyshop to be painted
3. why exactly do you want a cherry bomb? i beleave they are loud
4. hard to say your best bet is to ring around mate, altho liverpool vistoria are good

the best 1.2 is the best one you find for your money. dont be bothered about spec as its easy to modify, you wanna worry bout getting a solid shell. it all depends where you go but you'll find you get what you pay for "pay peanuts get monkeys". and you'll usually find you will be able to buy things like bumpers second hand in the right colour any way.

car will have a colour code relating to the colour used on your car at factory. provided its not been painted since with a different colour this should work.

ALso bear in mind that paint ages badly in the case of red so will be hard to get an exact match

nope only vauxhall flame red, as long as the car it came off was a standard colour of course. that is what this place is for mate to ask questions for help with your nova

this car lark sounds more awkward than i thought lol, all i wanna do is get a lil 1.2 and add a few body parts, im not worried about the engine, would be better if i bought the car with it already on lol

umm why not just get standard body parts (non colour coded since) and then follow the guides / advice in the styling forum to paint them yourself therefore learning how to do things

well said camb.
novas really are the best things to learn about how cars work. and the bonus is everything is so cheap if you mess it up just go and find another bit!

If you're only learning and it gonna be your first car, don't put a Cherry Bomb on it. Its a cop magnet. They're tacky, rusty and far too noisey. It'll attract a lot of the wrong attention, believe me. Powerflow'll make you a SS Back box and a whole system if you want, and they aren;t badly priced either.

novas really are good little cars to work on

ive has 2 in 5 years and loved each 1

best bet is use the net as much as you can to find things you like, lke bumpers, wing morrors etc

as for painting it is VERY hard to get a good match with old paint cose it fades so much. Your best bet is 2 get a either a full respray (costs LOADS) or keep the bumpers black.

as for exhausts PLEASE dont get a cherry bomb, they are tacky. get a decent back boxlike sportex, magnex or even a custom 1 made by powerflow.

at the end of the day it is down to you how you want it to look.

also the first modd should be a alarm

please dont add a nice set of rims and bodykit then the alarm as novas are VERY easy to steal and it will prob go missing.

do you know about the hazzard light switch fault?
wot this is is if you turn it upside down and plug it in the whole dash lights up and you are able to bump it.
like i said easy to steal

hope this helps

Again, like Mark said, try Power Flow, they'll make you any kind you want. Any style, any tail pipe and even whatever noise you want. They knocked one for my mate and now his 1200 Corsa actually sounds like a Subaru!!
