my nova had a single wiper conversion when i bought it.its jus a bodge job though because it is usin the standard linkage! every time it sweeps over to the drivers side it jus gets stuck and i hav to giv it a little push with my hand to get it to move back!!! why do you think this is?? :o

Wisewood has given a useful answer. It's a bodge job, so wont work properly.

You could try adjusting the linkage as it sounds to me that the wiper is being forced to one side. Check that the linkage isnt catching on the underneath of the scuttle panel too.

He has probably taken too much off the T piece. I have fashioned a single wiper from the original and it works as well as a kit with the added benefit of allowing me to choose the distance of the sweep when i made it. Haven't had a problem in 3 years with it.

It will be catching on the scuttle pannel as Jim said if it is too short.

I agree with Alex, too much has been taken off, either go out and buy a single wiper kit for about ?70 or go to the scrap yard and get another standard nova one, measure the difference in dinstance between the ball joints (on bodged and standard), then shorten the standard one so it is a little longer than the bodged one and it should be fine

or the best idea is not to bother with this totally pointless mod, i had it on mine and have finally got rid of it,
novas wipers are not the fastest about by any means so when it rains why the hell would you want to reduce the speed of the things,

now ive gone back to the standard (mk2 as it has better ball joints) linkage with 2 wipers its sooooo much smoother and you can acctually see what you are doing in the rain, another point is that you dont have the arm in the centre of the window,

if you really must do it get the motor from a citroen ax or allike as they have only one wiper and are much faster, also they park out the way of the screen,

when you "make" your own from the original you can chop and change where the wiper parks. Its just a matter of where the wiper is when you tighten the bolt connecting it to the motor.

Also you are not actually reducing the speed of the wipe. The actual motor is doing the same amount of movement and your wiper is still doing the "full cycle" in the same time.

you still have only one wiper that is crap rather than 2 that are crap, cant really be a good thing,
