obviously the best thing is if you can hear it running, if not its very hard to make a decision on it with out stripping it completely

Somebody selling a GSI without the engine in rings alarm bells to me.
But on the other hand, if the engine is out, it's easy to have a good look over the engine.

You can pay up to ?500 just for a good shell, so anything under that should be O.K. really.

I'd probably offer ?250

Soz lads, late night candle was burning dim

Im about to take the engine outta my GSI, done about 70k and goes well.

No one's posted any replies to my post though:

How the hell do you fit a boost valve?

looking at your specs you will only see 10-20bhp difference between your current engine and the gsi. quite a bit of work putting in loom and fuel pump/lines ect.

Unless your going to fit T40's of course.

Nah, it's easy, least I hope it is, Ive stripped my 1.2 (inc fuel tank, lines and loom) and am about to strip my GSi. Seems easy, plus u get the central locking, leki windows etc.
