Just bought a boost valve on ebay and its come without instructions. I'm guessing it directly replaces the standard fuel pressure regulator.

If that's the case, does a bracket need to be made to get it to fit to the fuel rail? Oh ye, its 1.6 GSI.

Do any of the fuel pipes, vacuum hoses etc need replacing or are the standard ones O.K?

And if i get it fitted, does anybody know how to adjust the bugger?

any pics would be a great help.

P.S, thanks to all who have contributed to the XE conversion posts, was about to go out and buy manufactured drive shafts.
Didn't have a clue where to start with the conversion but now am looking forward to it.

The GSI I've got on the road:

Isn't there anybody here who can help with this? Anybody wanna buy a boost valve for an 8v engine?

you do have to wait a little bit longer than 3 hours in the evenings!!!

be patient and if your gonna sell something use the for sale forum

There is a diagram on a site somewhere!

Put FSE boost valve in a search engine and look at a few sites. There is a colour digram of where everything needs to go.

Its easy!

What do they do and are they worth it?

I can only go from what I have fitted but I hope this helps.

Adjustment - Im not sure that all units are adjustable. On top of the until you will have a domed nut. Take that off. Just the top one. You will uncover a thread with a slot for a flat screwdriver. Loosen off the lower nut and you will be able to turn the thread. This is how you adjust the fuel pressure. You will need a fuel pressure guage on the system somewhere to set it though. The most popular place is the unit itself. See piccy here to see what I mean :-

They are a direct replacment for the origanal. I haven't got a clue how to disconnect your origonal unit because i've never done it.

Anyway, all you have to do is fit the fuel return to the bottom and the fuel feed in to the side. So thats fuel in through the side and out through the bottom. IIRC you should have arrows on the unit showing the direction of fuel flow.

Remeber that it works by backing up fuel pressure so it has to be fitted after the fuel rail. i.e. between the fuel rail and the fuel return.

They can be mounted anywhere you want really. Mine is fitted to the left of the engine.

I understand that fine, I've seen some diagrams on the net.
theres a fuel inlet, return and vacuum.

BUt on my standard fuel pressure regulator (attached to the fuel rail) I've only got a vacuum.
But coming off the manifold is the Coasting air valve that looks almost identical to the boost valve, replacing that would be a direct fit, easy as chips.
But as everybody says, and ive read elsewhere, it should directly replace the standard fuel pressure regulator.

According to haynes the fuel pressure regulator and coasting air valve are as is in the pic below

I really dont get it!
I'd replace the coasting air valve with (or what seems to be the coasting air valve according to Haynes) with the boost valve but dont want to do any harm to the performance or even miss out any performance the boost valve might add.

It looks so obviuos to fit it where the coasting air valve goes  FFS!

CHeers Ste, if my boss decides to pay me some wages tomorrow I'll join you at the scrappy. I'll PM you 2 let u know

on the back of the injector rail there is a small steel cylinder (the origional fuel regulator) this has 2 pipes going into it. remove these and replace with longer lengths of fuel line. there is also a smaller pipe that runs to the top of the cylinder (vacum pipe from inlet) this will alsi need changing for a longer one. then find a place for the new valve, like on the right hand suspension turret and mount it securely. join up the pipes in the same orientation to the old regulator on the fse and your done. save the old valve as its useful incace the fse dies

on the back of the injector rail there is a small steel cylinder (the origional fuel regulator) this has 2 pipes going into it. ??????????????????????????
Looking at it, the only pipes that i can see going into it is the vacuum pipe. When i find a tool to undo the star shape screw heads that hold the fuel pressure regulator on, i will remove it from the fuel rail, if that reveals two fuel pipes then jobs a good'n.

By the way, before finding the above quote, i replaced the coasting air valve with the power boost valve, didnt have any adverse affects and if some one had told me that the performance had improived, i might have believed them

Fuil rails off, and so is standard fuel pressure regulator, Still no joy.

Here is the fuel rail detached with the standard fuel pressure regulator off.

Here is the standard fuel pressure regulator fitted

But upon removing the regulator, as i always thought, aint no way it's gonna fit! (anybody else trying to fit one of these, i managed to undo 3 of the screws holding the standard kit on with a 5mm spaner, the other i haxsawed and made a groove to get a screwdriver in)

Here is the power boost valve fitted where the coasting air valve should be. u can see this in the other pics as well

Somebody please help cos i aint gettin nowhere fast.
