hey
i have a 1.4sr but need more. would anyone know whether it is possible to bore it 2 a 1.6 without modding bottom end??
also would a mk2 astra 1.6 carbed engine drop straight in on the same mounts?? what about gear boxes?

a 1.6 cav engine will be a direct straight swap from your 1.4sr. Just use your nova mounts ect..If your going to bore a block out then your going to modify the bottom as you will need bigger pistons ect..

will putting a cav engine worth putting in or would it be best to tune up the 1.4? e.g ports and polishing. twin weber??
will i need a different gearbox for the cav engine??
just keep ya 1.4 head but get 1.6 valves in it and bolt a 1.6 block to it

to fit 1.6 vavles you will need to machince the vavle seats out because they are bigger.
bill blydenstein is the man to go to for cylinder heads.
or i heard cylinder head developments are good too.

Shouldnt take long to redo the valve seats on a vertical Milling Machine. How much are the larger valves new anyhow? Fancy having a mess about with a 1.2 head now!
Alan
its probably cheaper buying a 1.6 head from a scrapy and using the valves from that, unless you really want new valves
