I've seen a couple of engines that claim to be a c16se, but this engine looks exactly the same as the c14se. I know it has the dis-pac but the inlet manifold looks wrong and there's no AFM (i know there's nothing attached but there was another one on ebay abit ago claiming to be a c16se and it had no AFM-just a K&N bolted straight onto the throttle body).

Anyone know?

Yes it is!
They dont have AFMs, they have MAF sensors instead.

*cough* MAP Sensor *cough*

I asked Ben about this the other day and he said they all have AFM's!!!

Well at least i know now. Do the c16se's run less 'lumpy' than the e16se's?

I used to have a C14SE in my SRi, and yeah it was pretty smooth. I really liked the engine to be honest but hey more power please!!

Don't think you'll go far wrong with a C16SE, there's not a lot goes wrong on them either. Just be aware that the idle motor gets a bit gunked up and the lmabda sensor can make things interesting when they need replacing. Definately a sound base for tuning.

I have a gsi at the mo but its a h-plate so it has the gte engine, but it should be going on webers so it doesn't really matter, but i was curious!

Surely if you had a c16se and got a de-cat system then it would pull better than a e16se because there's no afm restriction and the dis-pac (i would imagine) is more efficient than a standard distributor?

WTF is a MAF sensor?! lol

mass air flow :p

ie it measures the air going into the engine

yup same as mine

but you will need loom/ecu and leads are ???

MAF is mass air flow
MAP manifold absolute pressure (or something!)

cheers boys :+:

MAF = another name for AFM...?

Was looking around my engine yesterday (e16se) and my IAT sensor isn't there!! First time i've ever looked so i dont think its ever been there since i've had the car. There's also a wire behind my inlet manifold that doesn't go to anything but has a current going through it-dont know what it should be attatched to :?: :!:

I give up

Does your temp guage work? As the wire for this goes to the back of the inlet manifold

Yep temp guage works fine. I more concerned about not having an IAT sensor-i would replace it but i dont know where the wiring for it is-it's nowhere to be seen ?!?!
