how do i get my pc to shut itself down. e.g. if i go out and leave it downloading somthing and i want it to turnoff after 2hours. i have windows xp pro if that makes a difference

i had a program that did this that saved the download if i got disconneted, when i was on 56k and you could set it to turn the PC off when you it finished

Gator is wrold known producer of spyware and other crap....
There is no option in XP to shut itself down after partcular opperation (Well ctually there is called Critical Error, which brings up nice relaxing blue screen). However you can set it to hibernate, or stand by after a while. Have a look at the screen saver settings (Right click on your desktop > Properties > Screen Saver) and the click on Power button, you can set your settings there.

Download accellerator has the option you want, it can cut the line or cut the power after download, it will also handle and shedule multiple downloads and only cut off after all of them.

you will have to do a search cos I can't remember the webby

I used this and never had any problems whatsoever
