Hi, at the moment i have a 1.3 SR head on a 1.2 block running on a pierburg carb, the head has been skimmed, ported, polished e.t.c. I have just got hold of myself a carbed 1.6 engine which has a 1.3 head on a 1.6 block ffom a friend of a friend and have got some dellorto 40s coming in the post soon. My question is how would MY 1.3 head run on the 1.6 block bearing in mind its been skimmed e.t.c? Would the compression be likely to be far to high?

Cheers.

There would be little difference, the 1.6 head is the best you can get for a Nova, the valves are too small in the 1.3 head to make use of the 1.6 bottom end...

in my humble opinion what youd gain in the compression ratio youd lose out on with the valve sizes (if not more)

you would get marginally increased toqrue over the std 1.6 head though but again you'd run out of top end grunt.

basically get a 1.6 head and ahve it decked ;)

who ported and polished your 1.3 head?

So basically what you guys are saying is that the 1.3 head will basically stifle the engine through not having big enough valves then. hmmmm, thats no good is it. Just a pain in the arse because i have all that top end work done and now it has to be flogged. oh well. lol

btw the head-work was all done by Regal.

would a 1.2 head on a 1.6 block be too much high compression?

Bear in mind i run on U/L Ultimate 100%.

Its got bigger valves than a GTE/GSi head aswell.

define too much lol

you may not be able to run optimal ign advance due to detonation possibilities

Well ive given up on the 1.3 head on the 1.6 lump, just figure it would be easier to send my 1.6 head of to byldenstien for old bill to work his magic. Hopefully ill have the 1.6 lump in along with my dellorto 40's all setup ready for when i pass my test, its booked for the 12 november, cant wait. :' ) By the way, what kind of 0-60 times can i expect to get with the 1.6 lump, piper fast road cams and the 40s properly setup also what kind of bhp do you reckon it will put out? Cheers guys. G

P.S Now have a fully worked 1.2 head up for sale if anyone wants to make an offer?
