I am after a 2litre 16v Cos-Cast engine.
Most of these by now will have done over 100k miles. So when I put it in2 my Nova, I obviously want to make sure its completely mint and I'm not going to have any engine trouble.
I haven't got an engine yet, but looking everywhere...

I was pondering, when I do get one, regardless if it sounds ok now (cos it may not in a couple of months, or my luck when I buy it) to get it stripped down, change the gaskets, the bushes etc...
I am gonna change the camshaft anyway with pulleys ...
Q. what else do I need to account for?
Q. And is there anybody trustworthy to do it for me??

run it and when u break it then rebuild it
i'm doing a rebuild on mine but i've been giving it death for 8 months
have u undertaken an engine work before?

i'm doing all the work on mine except reboring and regrinding crank

but costs are still high, pistons etc

All I have done before is change the spark plug leads!
(I havent done any engine work before!)

How much is the reboring & crank costing you?
What "else" is there?

fanx

this prob sounds a little stupid to u lot ...
but is there some place on the internet that shows what each engine bit is, in deatils, inside & out??? :-/

I have been trawling the net the last 3 days for engine-recon websites ...& I did see one site that had it, but cant find it again!

my mate jsut had his 16v rebuilt for ?220 that included low friction pistons, new rings, New con rods, crank regrind, new big and little end bearings and the bores honed.

and its all top notch work from some grubby looking (but excellent) garage in swansea.

might get em to rebuild the 1.2 LMAO

Dave Pearce, hmm he mixes like a man with no hands

Cambridge, what was the name of that garage? I need to rebuild my 2.0 engine, but I dont think I can be arsed doing it myself, so if there is somewhere like that I would be willing to pay for a courier to get it down there and back again.

Garages sticking to their promises???? not likely!!! :(
