Driving my 1200 nova really really hard a few days ago, any how got up to the very tip of my digital dash rev counter, and still reved higher i'm estimating i has hitting 8500rpm(jududing by the revs left are hiting the rev limit on the clock.) Anyhow wanted to know if this was accurate? Mods to the car are 1300 polished ported and skimmed (to the very millimeter before bending valves) head, kent cam, twin 40s with trumpets, was running high octane fuel at the time, 4-1 mainfold, 2 1/4 inch straight through exhaust, 14 inch alloys with 185/45 tyres and 4.18 fd. Think it may be to do mainly with the already short stroke of 1200 engines with the skimmed head. Anyhow any one know if this reading would be accurate.
I know i'm going to be slagged about the beast 1200 power house engine. i've got a 1300 currently being built to a bomb proof bottom end

I've found that the rev gauge is normally off the gauge by 7krpm, it over reads a bit. When I hit 7900 the gauge is wedged and can't go round anymore, so it's anyones guess.
