Jus brought it for a mate who couldnt find it, set it up through the computer (he has a USB broadband modem). That all went well. Came to the bit where you have to tell the computer you're 'Sharing the Connection', and thats where it went t*ts up!

For a start, even though the xbox was connectied in the computers ethernet port, the LAN icon said nothing was connected (we then tried it in the other port it fits in, still didnt work). The wizard then said there was an error because it wasnt connected (when it was........we think).]

Do we need a router or summit? Anyone got xbox live and could tell me how u did it?

Setting it up with a mate is a good test of friendship, thats for sure......

did you use a crossover cable to connect the xbox to the pc? if not you need to get one. or you can use a hub and plug the pc and the xbox into the hub.

Whats a cross over then? cos the xbox was connected to the comp with a wire, but doubt it was a proper crossover!

the cable you have is probably just an ordinary patch lead. What you need to get is one that looks the same but the wires are crossed over, so that it can communicate with the computer. they are about ?5 for a 5 meter one from maplins or somewhere. Basically if you goto any computer shop, then they will know what you need, ask for a CAT 5 Crossover cable and the length you want.
