Hi fella's,
I need to buy an exhaust fairly soon for my GSi.
I originally wanted a Jetex, but now thinking of a twin exit exhaust, either side of the car...
but only Ashley do this; its ?90 for the kit, but it needs major work to fit as its a universal fitment.
Anybody know of a company that does it to custom fit AS STANDARD ??

Or any other (sensible) ideas would be welcome. I want to keep my spare wheel area.
Cheers.

Speak to "Powerflow" theres one in Leeds, they specialise in custom exhausts. They could make u one and fit it for you (are made from s/s=expensive-but lifetime guarantee) or you could buy the Ashley one and ask them to fit it for you. They'd probably fit it for less than ?50 ;)
Heres the number 0113-2947700. The actual place is called "Alpha performance centre" but they do the powerflow exhausts.

I phoned around a few places who said Ashley aint that good for quality...
Powerflow in Croydon said they could, but best to lose the Spare wheel well, as the fuel tank would be too close to the heat from exhaust pipes ... they charge about ?400 to do it ...but on top I have to get the well cut out.
BUT, where then would I put the NOS ???!

Having a twin exhaust either side of the car will make no increase in performance compared to a 3" single exit. What you're doing will be purely for cosmetic purposes - It'll look cool though :) I know of two places in Macclesfield (cheshire) that can do custom made exhausts. I'm not sure what there thoughts will be on what you want them to do, but it might be worth giving them a phone. "Tube Torque" (01625 511153) is where I got my exhaust done. The guys name is Mark and he knows his stuff and does a very good job. I can't remember the name of the other place in Macclesfield, but from what I've heard there equally as good. I think Ian Storey knows the number. I hope this helps.

Jim.

you could get an MGF backbox and try to get that to fit just behind the wheel well?!?!? the have an exit at both end and sit sideways on. Dont have any idea if this would work, but its an idea!!

Garages sticking to their promises???? not likely!!! :(

The other plcae is JP exhaust and they have a 2-3 month waiting list. But you expect to wait to get the best!

Cheers...
I think I may just get the Jetex for now ...and then after I got my 2litre and power mods done, go back to the styling and get the custom exhaust done, something real phat!!
How much would I then be able to sell the Jetex 2nd hand. (which I am buying brand new) full system, costing ?235.

I LIKE TO THINK AHEAD!

i'd highly recommend a mongoose full system, lifetime guarantee, same price as a jetex, has polished mirror finish back box, sounds good, does not harm performance of 2.0 (well not on mine!) and the guarantee is fine as they have replaced one for me with no problems next day.

Dicko, can u get the custom exhausts cheaper?

Jetex are supposed to be the most powerful exhausts on the market (apart from BBS or whatever ther are called), in tests proved by Courtenay Sport, and also Redline Tuning.

and they are oval, different, cos every f**ker has a big round tailpipe.

But custom is the way to go in the future.

I've just been told that the Jetex exhaust won't fit onto the 2L 16v xe engine ... what mods would need to be done, or dont they make a Jetex for the 2 litre ????

no one makes of the shelf exhausts for the 2.0

16v Nova - Toolkit, Trouble, Points and great expence all come as standard :)

Oh, thanks for that.
SO WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO MAKE THE JETEX FIT THE 2 LITRE?? is it costly?
The garage bloke will do it, but I need to tell him, and get understanding for myself too.

U NEED TO MOD THE 2.0 DOWNPIPE SO IT WILL MATE TO ANY GTE/GSI/SRI CENTER SECTION

i was running
modded 2.0 16v down pipe (shortened and re angled)
nova gte/gsi center section
mk2 nova 1.2i back box

Ian/Rick D/Rob Spider are all running the same downpipe

16v Nova - Toolkit, Trouble, Points and great expence all come as standard :)

Would the downpipe come with the engine (is that a silly question or what!?)

Thanks Ste. Have u got instructions or summing to do the shortening and re-angling or are they not needed? or can I get downpipe already done from somewhere?

(u may have guessed I'm not very technical! not for cars anyway!! :) )

yeah its the manifold (should come with it)its all one piece, you just cut it and reweld so that the centre section will mate with it, just a matter of lining it up and welding the flange back on at the right angle to line up.
