My Dad bought a BMW 330d today, and I am seriously impressed with it. For those that dont know it is a 3 litre V6 turbo Diesel, and boy does this thing go!
The engine has got something like 200 bhp which isnt all that impressive, but the torque it produces is massive...reportedly just shy of the torque that an M3 produces!
Has any body else been in one of these, what are your opinions??? Diesels are the future!
yeah my old boss had one and was very quick for an oil burner

Anyone know where you can get power/torque figures for this car, other than parkers, as this donesn't do torque???

this one was an estate as well metalic silver sat nav leather seats was awsome i really liked it
New Diesels are fine, except the figures of economy they give you are a loada shite, most diesels you have to boot the shit outta it to get them to go, as 4000 revs is practically red lining most, and alot are burst couches after 100. fuel figures, most people i knwo with diesels never seem to be out the garage for fuel, and servicing the bastards?? and parts?? better remortgage your house every 5000 miles!!
in the long run more expensive, but some have impressive figures....for towing caravans!!

The fact that the power band is lower down in the rev range is actually a positive point, means you dont have to rev the tits off the engine to go anywhere, leads to longer engine life etc.

I've got a brand new Clio diesel... it does almost 600 miles on about ?40 quids worth of diesel. Hardly a case of never being out of the garage. and the service intervals reccomended by Renault are every 18000 miles, so even a few hundred quid for the service isn't bad as even with a 30 mile trip to work every day it's only going to be 15000 miles per year, so mustn't complain at all.
good point wisey only one problem i can see thought and its that its a girls car really aint it

Do you wanna go the same way as hairboi
You might say it's a girls car, but brand new it was ?10,700 ... considerably cheaper than anything else in the same class on the market at the moment for a car with such good economy.
Also, it's the dynamique so it's got stiffer suspension and better seats etc... and climate control, and electric windows/sunroof, power steering, abs, ebd and loads of other cool trickery such as the onboard computer to tell you average speed for this trip, fuel consumption and mileage until you need to fill up again.
It might not be to everyones taste aesthetically, but it's a damn fine car for the money... i would certainly buy another if nothing else any better turns up for the same money in the next 2-3 years.
clios can look alright the new one doesn't look like a girls car its got that agressive front grill

Just priced up the vauxhall corsa to the same spec, and without coolness like the automatic rain sensative windscreen wipers, and the automatic headlights for when it gets dark, or you go through a tunnel... and for a 1.3 instead of a 1.5 diesel engine...
The vauxhall corsa SXi comes out at almsot 13k for what is in simple terms, an inferior car.
hey wisey with those fancy headlights and windscreen wipers it gives you longer to do your hair and make up in the mirror lol

True. Also, since you can get in and set the climate control to whatever temperature you feel most comfortable at, and you can control the stereo from the stalk behind the steering wheel - it makes driving to your destination feel lovely. The only thing i wish we got different was the cruise control option... but it was quite pricey and at the end of the day, with cruise control you could probably fall asleep driving it lol.

535d is out now, lot better then the 530, twin turbos baby 8)
who ever was talking about diesels not getting good economy is chatting absolute shit, i used to have a vectra diesel and it would do 50mpg+ daily sitting at 120+.
Diesels are no way a match for petrol at the mo, unless they have twin turbos bolted on, they take forever to spool up and run out of puff waaay to quick!
