View Full Version : Rattle Rattle Rattle!!!!

Right, ever since i put my 1600 GTE (E16SE) lump into my car (well, after about 400miles) i've had a very annoying rattle from the engine which only makes a noise under load, as soon as you let your foot off the accelerator, the noise goes, but then reappears as the revs start to drop! Now this has got me confused, my dad confused (AAman!!) and all the guys at my local Vauxhall garage confused! We've changed:

Hydraulic lifters
Cam followers
Cam shaft
Oil pump
Water pump
Cam Belt

But when you stand in front of the car, it sounds as though the noise is coming from the cam belt end of the engine, but when you lie under the car, it sounds as though it is coming from the clutch!! CONFUSED!!!! :? so if anyone has any ideas, all donations would be great!!

ratte, rattle under load and low revs sounds alot like big ends to me mate

It might be the bearing caps, but check first if is tighten the bolt of the crankshaft.

It's pinking mate. retard your ignition a bit and it will go, or shove some Pro Boost in and get a bit more power out of it!

er, no! sorry, i know pinking noise and it isnt that at all!! not even close!! thanks for trying though!

even when im doing 90 down the motorway and its still there! it sounds like pneumatic drill! it does it when the car is stationary and you rev the engine! :?
