Alrite, i wouldn't bother mate. I put a 5 speed box onto 1 of my 1.2 Nova's a few years ago, it was shite !
The engine doesn't have enough power to pull through the gears !!
I thought it would be better on fuel because of the extra gear, it ends up using more ! you've gotta drop it a gear any time you went near a hill !
Stick with your 4 speed.
What engine size is it anyway ?

wat nova u gt?
i have 1.2 merit which ghad 4 speed gearbox in it.

I thnk th sr gearbox is an F13 gearbox, cause i tried to get 1 out of a 13 sr.
I was told it had to be an F10 box, i jst asked at th scrappie for 1 and they took one out for me.

Hope this helps

i have the 1.2 spi, standard 45 bhp,but it is quite highly tuned without major modifications anyway, i dont no why but my 4 speed seems quite fast just a bit slow pulling away.

Fitting a 5 spd box ain't gonna make it any quicker / faster !!
Vauxhall fitted it with a 4 spd box for a reason !
I honestly wouldn't bother, its a fairly simple job to swap box's so you could always swap to a 5 spd then if its shit you could always swap back !!

F10/5 is just an F10/4 with an extra ratio

surely if hes planning on getting a gearbox out of a early 1.3sr this is the close ratio box so therefore he will get better speed out of it

4th and 5th gear in the boxes are the same.... you just have 5 gears in the space that 4 take... so it's quicker through the gears

i had an f10/5wr on my 1.4sr.... it was ace on fuel and u could cruise at 115mph without ragging the engine  but yes you did have to drop it to 4th when there was a hill

to summarise....
f10/5cr = 5 gears in the space of 4
f10/5wr extra gear ontop of 4th
