dont slate me for saying this or anything but ive noticed that when people put posts up in the Technical Forum about engine mods to a 1.2 engine, people reply...

'put a bigger engine in'

I know that when i first got my car i didnt have the time, money or means to put a bigger engine in.

The question was, what engine mods can i do to MY 1.2 engine, not, 'should i Mod my engine or put a bigger one in?'

Just saying its not called for.

[Rant off]

i couldnt agree more neil when i saw lunatic's post askin for help with his 1.2i i to lost it here look at what i had to say

i hate it when someone comes on askin for help for more power out of there 1.2 and everyone ses put a bigger engine in and all that b******s, it just isnt possible for some people so from now on no more of that just proper advice.

so the simple things first obviously filter, cam and exhaust are usually the first steps, after that u have to start thinkin about head work and lightin and balencin of crank and flywheel.

other solution is to loose wait from the car strip her out she'll go kwiker simple as every gram u can save helps, but once again this isnt practicle for some ppl so its upto to you really what can you afford? whjat do you use your car for? how long do you plan on keepin it? there are so many fatcors you have to take into account, have a sit down think what you want from it then decide how you can mod it.

Trying to get more power out of small engines like that usually isn't economical. The gains won't even be noticeable with just filter/exhaust, thus ''put bigger engine in'' IS the best advice. Obviously it doesn't mean 'right now'.

MY advice to ''how to mod my 1.2''would be ''build your NCB up''. Then get a faster engine/car.

The thing is, the EXACT same question(s) get asked over and over again, and people get ar$ey about it. maybe if the search function on here actually worked people could search for the info they needed and draw there own conclusions :|

i would have got a pugeot / citroen motorsport one, but i think the one i got is top notch lmao

it Is very uneconomical to modify a 1.2 for a real performance gain, but there are cheap things that can be done that can even be transferred over to the bigger engine (provided you stay small block 8V)

but what do i know hey.

but what do i know hey.

 Absolutely nothing about tuning a 1.2 8v !!! If you did know anything you wouldn't just have a mythical super fast 1.2 project car sitting in CP's barn... you'd have a real one :D

To be fair though, often the best advice is to put a bigger engine in it.
Swapping a 1.2 for a 1.3 or a 1.4 would cost considerably less than buying a K&N and full exhaust & manifold.

IMO, there is no point in most of the people tuning a 1.2 as they have a 1.2 because they cant afford insurance on a bigger engine, so tuning the 1.2 would void their insurance or put the premium up to the bigger engine insurance anyway.

and anyway thier 1.2's will only end up being XE'd so just grin and bear it!

My personal opinion is why do you people even bother going on about 1.2 performance, they can't pull the skin of a rice pudding!
