STEERING!!!!!

I have alot of play in my steering wheel when the car is stationary, i can turn it from left to right about 3 - 4 inches,any ideas as to what it could be.

N.B. it also has alot of play when im going along which is'nt to good.

First check that all the steering column bolts are tight, if they are i would fit a new column as yours may be fooked. I'm not sure that this is definately the problem, but i damaged my column trying to get my steering wheel off which meant there was some play in the wheel-so i put a new column in+its fine. Hope that helps

If the tracking is off it can cause the steering to feel very light for a 3-4 inch turn.

Check for abnormal tyre wear then get it sorted if it is off.
