Astra Mk2 gearbox question

Hi guys,

Just got a MK2 astra 1.6 lump for a mate but have a question about the gearbox.

I am pretty sure that the fly is bigger than 1.4 models and needs the F13? box for it to fit, can anyone clarify that I need an F13 or can use 1.4 fly, problem with starter may arise though, and wether the shafts will pop straight in from a 1.4.

Also while we are on the subject what code does the 1.4 SR box have, it is fairly close ratio'd so prob a CR box. F10cr?

He has bought it now so gonna go get a box tonight

I got some big and little block box's if he gets stuck.

We found a 1.7TD box in the end. It's exactly the same as my box which I got from you (Ben) on GSi lump.

Fitted and it all runs fine, even on a carb jetted and set up for a 1.4 (I told em not to get to hasty with the mixture last time!)

The only problem we could have had is not putting the nut on front box mount. As it happens the bolt is rusted in there solid!

Am I still alright for sat? what sort of time?
