i am 18, with a years driving. what are my chances and how much will i roughly be looking at?

the only way to get a proper idea of how much it will cost is to phone up a number of insurance companies and ask. Everyones circumstances are different.

You should be able to find someone to insure you, but it will cost.

I think there is a guide on the homepage of novaload.net for insurance, have a look at that, or failing that, go back through the forum a few pages and there's bound to be another post about this, it keeps cropping up every other day!!

What group are valvers classed at?
I am aiming to get a valver in a few years after i build up some NCBs, when i am about 20.
If i could insure a valver then i would buy Bens black one for ?1000, but it just isn't happening aged 17.
