Im in the process of buying a 1.3SR, i want to know if anyone could tell me how much power it should be making with a set of twin webber 40's and no other work done to it.
I only need to know for insurance purposes, and it will also help me decide wether to get the car or not
Is there any other things i should consider, like head and cam work or is it better waiting to get a 2.0 16v

The 1.3 is a great little engine, can be very well tuned and give good gains. Its 72 BHP standard, and should see 85bhp with T40's, properly set-up!
Altho with headwork, cam etc, it can see over 100bhp, and loads of torgue!
Here's mine, just recently finished:

Thanks for the information.
This is going to be my first car. My boyfriend used to have an SR nova so he knows a little bit about them himself. But im glad theres a site here for any information i may need. :)
well theyre 69bhp standard and to be honest with you, with no headwork, cam etc i think u may be a little bit dissapointed with the gains, fo r?400 ish including set up i would wait for the 2ltr 16v...
The Nova Sport, basically an SR with twin 40's, had 89bhp

the 1.3 sr with pierburg 2e3 is 71bhp standard. The 1.4sr is 72.
The early 1.3sr (Pre 85?) which had the single choke 1b1 was 69bhp i think.
mechat didnt the sport have a cam aswell
was the head on a nova sport ported in any way or just a standard 1.3 sr head with 40s and (optional extra) a cam.
i know it had a 4 branch and a simmilar exhaust to a ashly system
i belave it wasnt ported m d
