you can get hold of a whole cav for bout 200 then strip it down,
i would fit the 2lt brakes or bigger,
dont bother with the 6 speed box unless you want to do about 170
use the original fan an rad they will be fine,
you will need to change the engine i.e make room for the alternator an weld it all up,
i would use coilovers suspesion wise,
not sure on the 0-60 an top speed, it will be enough to scare most people though.
There is loads of other things but i cant thing at the moment.

1. how much are the engines?
search your local freeads for astra gte 16v, cavalier gsi, calibra 16v, cavalier sri 16v (make sure you get the 150bhp redtop version, these also came with 8v's and ecotecs)
2. wot else do i need apart from der engine n loom n gearbox?
you will need to fabricate or buy the front drivers side engine mount, and also space the rear mount, kits available cheap from brian_s on migweb.co.uk. fabricate exhaust between the 2ltr downpipe and the nova system. change waterpump, h'gasket, cambelt while engine out and also tensioner/rollers as if these go its bent valves and more ???
3. is the 6 speed gearbox a good thing to use with this project?
no
4. wot drive shafts should i use as i dont want them to keep on breakin?
nova gte 22 spline shafts with cav mk2 1600 (small block) inner cv's.
5. does anything else get in the way of the engine?
only the alternator fouling on the chassis leg, look on valvers.com there's a guide
6. wot rads and fans u guys usin i dont wanna other heat it?
std, ideally a gsi rad though or td, as these were the biggest ones fitted to novas
7. should i fit 16v brakes as well?
yes
8. is it a DIY job or a pro job i would like to do it myself?
take your time, do it yourself, not that difficult at all really
9. wot 0-60mph and topspeed am i lookin at with dis engine in?
rapid,lol...
10. wot suspension do i use ?!?!
recommend coilovers up front as 2l novas tend to become a bit front heavy with the extra weight, coilovers alswo give you the benefit of adjustable ride height and dampening, check out the budget gaz range at www.raldes.co.uk

IS the 0-60 that rapid, enough to scare most people.
Does it really snap you back into your seat.
My first dream is to be in a Xe nova,
my second dream is to eventually own one. 8)

it is very rapid, but as with anything you will get used to it. i got too used to it, so then built a LET nova, even quicker but then got used to that too lol.
well worth making one though, such a budget car to make and will beat so many 'performance' cars

Whats a guide price to get an xe fitted to my mates nova, my mate can get the engine, loom, gearbox etc,
but would need to get it fitted.
What price do people pay.
