re-drilling some 5 stud 288mm discs for use on my nova isn't a problem, but I was wondering if any 4 stud vauxhall's came with 288mm discs? it would make life easier.

I have searched about but found none so far.

anyone know?

cheers

You can get the on 4 stud cars, but I cant remember which ones. Apparantly some renault has the same diameter 4 stud discs that will fit, but I'm a bit dubious on that!

From the EBC range I have found:

D848 2.0 TXi '86 on Front Standard / Vented 4 / Plain 285mm 143mm(hub) 32 (overall thickness) 21 (19) (disc thickness) ?81.42

for a Renault 21

D982 2.0 16v (172)(182) '00 on Front Standard / Vented 4 / Plain 280 44 24 (22) ?70.11

for a Clio Phase 3.

Laguna Phase 1s are 4 stud x 280mm as well.

Dunno how hard it would be to fit them on a vauxhall though!

lol, thanks for trying, but the renault discs are different dimensions all round. probably could fit them, but there's no point as it'll be harder than just redrilling some 288 5 stud vaux discs

looks like I'm getting 5 stud ones and drilling them then.

the lancia delta trubo discs are 286mm, which would mean the pad overhangs by 2mm, i know people use them altrturbo....

2 x Vectra V6 calipers

Discs also available on their own, INCLUDING pads ?90.

re-drilling some 5 stud 288mm discs for use on my nova isn't a problem

cheers for trying to help but I have more sense than to pay ?90 + delivery for standard discs and pads that I can get delivered for ?53 and drill myself.

like I said, just gonna redrill some 5 stud ones now.

how much better are the v6 brakes than the 16v ones? loads of difference or not?

They work better because you are using less force due to the increased torque because of the bigger discs. So there will be less heat generated. Brakes can only be as good as the tyres that you are using. I am running V6 fronts with drums on rear and it is a brilliant setup. When I was using 16v brakes I had trouble on a trackday with the brakes getting hot, but havent tried the V6 ones on a track yet

V6 brakes seem to stop the omega ok lol

mind you the standard discs and pads werent up to my driving style. so i got EBC discs and pads all round. stops like a demon now, but ive now hit the point where the brake fluid boils lmao. so i need to go to dot 5.1 to remedy it

Yes! Massive difference! Had standard GTE brake set up, went to standard size but red dot, drilled and grooved - made a differencedidn't get brake fade as quick when hacking round counrty roads.

Then moved onto a set up the 16v calipers and pads (standard ones), big difference from my previous ones, think I got fade on those once or twice but it wasn't easy, could light a fag of of em when they gloed red!

Warped them coz of the hi temps, bought the V6 kit from Vaux-MD for just under ?300 with the mintex police pads, and braided hoses. These brakes r animals! Nice and smooth braking progression when town driving but when squeezed they stop you on the bloody penny! Recomend them to anyone!

I'm considering using early lancia delta LHD HF intergrale discs.

i've been told they are the same pcd.

the hub hole is 1 mm less than the nova/cav ones so I wont need a spacer as with the 10mm bigger hub hole on v6 discs.

also the cav v6 calipers take 284mm discs (the calibra 288mm are cheaper hence the original choice) and the lancia are 284mm.

only thing is the width is 2mm less (3mm less than the calibra 288), not so much a problem, but the overall height of the discs is slightly less meaning I may need to space the carrier inwards slightly, depending on the thickness of the metal used in the hub area of the disc. (think of the discs as having a different offset if you don't know what overall height is)

sounds a good idea, just gotta find out of they are the same PCD. Anyone?
