Hi lads and lasses,

I currently have a 1.3L.

Basically, I have a really nice load of stuff to go on my 1300...head, cam, exhaust etc etc

I am looking to change the capacity though to either a 1.4 or 1.6.

Mainly because I don't want to be limited by the 1.3.

I have the 1400 bottom end out of my old SR (will need rebuilding)...and can get a 1600 bottom end out of a Cav for nothing (prob also needs rebuilding).

So I am just wondering which one you would go for ?

The current 1300 motor has only done 36000 miles from new so I was looking to just get some ARP bolts for that and then rebuild either one of the bottom ends above while I'm going with this one.

I'm 18 so insurance is an issue.

Thinking about it I am inclined to go for the 1600 as I can just transfer my head cam etc over to that and will obviously get more power then the 1400. How much am I looking at to get a nice spec 1600 bottom end (lightened/balanced,overbored etc) ?

Anyway...What do you guys think ?

I dunno much about Novas....but there's always the saying there aint no replacement for displacement!

Also...I dont think you'll find ANY benefit of fitting ARP bolts to your current engine, not unless you've got forged H-section rods as standard and give it a pro balance + lighten. Else you wouldnt have a bottom end cabable to rev high enough to Justify them...it'd be a pointless outlay.

if you stick to a 1.4 the tax will be cheaper thats one way of lookin at it

Go for the 1.6 option, you dont wanna spend a load on a 1.4 and then get whipped my some1 with a standard gsi engine do you!

ben thats a stupid idea, its a total waste of money to "tune" a 1.2 up

no one in their right mind would do such a thing!!!!

it'll Rev mate, honest. :D

Cambridge if I had a spare ?1600 I would buy Russel's engine mate!

Yeh suppose its all my decision...its a fcuking hard one though! Really hard.

Suppose I could give my insurance a bell and see what they say...
