i am having serious problems findong t40 filters to fit my 1.3. i bought the k&n filters but the carbs are to close and therefore the base plates don't fit.
has anyone on here got t40's with filters?
if so what are they and where did you get them. lots of people say don't bother with them but i don't like the idea of the engine gulping all the dust n crap that i drive through
cheers, tim

i never had any one mine, i cant be arsed with filters. Thats my opinion but a lot of people will probably moan about sucking in small animals. i no lots of people with throttle bodies/twin carbs that dont run filters and never had an problems
i always thought filters were necassery sp?? what about those single sock type filters??

i thought about those sock types ones when i first had the carbs put on, only thing was mine would spit out rather large flames out the trumpets. Last thing i wanted to suck in some dirty half burnt sock
^^^  nice burnt foam + engine = not nice!!!
ermmm phil if they spat out flames they were very badly set up lmao. I personally run filters, I'm just one of those as phil said who wont run without them. They dont sap performance in anyway so cant see why they could be a bad thing.
http://www.aldonauto.co.uk/ , I generally use these guys for anything twin 40 related and have never had any issues with them.
here's a pic of the new pipercross one i have just recently purchased to replace my old scabby one

come to think of it that was before i had it set at a rolling road. I drove for quite a bit not set up
I have thick tights held on with cable-ties and sprayed with filter oil!
They work whilst I look for well priced filters.
Ya carbs might not suck in woodland creatures but there's dust in the air which'll eventually make a mess of the valves.
I use K&N filters. 2 Filters are required (one for each pair of carbs).

i friend of mine runs a 1600 toyota twin cam corrola on TB's with no filters for rallying (they lost him 10bhp lol) and when it came rebuild time there were still a couple of hone marks left but no damage from dust etc
try ITG for a filter too

you need to have at least 25mm of gap between end of trumpet and filter. Especially if your using K&N. Foam ones won't matter so much but is still a good idea.
