Hi...I've been chatting to a monkey of a member from this site for a while now on MSN...so I figured it was about time to sign up, and have a nose around here...see how things are done on this side of the pond.

Obviously, looking at my siggy you will see It's not a nova I drive...I'm of the blue oval persuasion. I have to admit though, I'm curious as to what you guys are doing engine wise with these cars...i've heard lots of big power figures bandied about, and wanted to see if it was for real.

Also...I'm checking out the competition for when My engine is finished....there was supposed to be a nova/fiesta thing (which is what brought Dan to my neck of the woords), but it's been put off for AGES now (mainly due to most of the feisty boys being mid engine work!)

Anyway, before I go on too much...Howdy! ;)

Play nice children, there was once talk of a fiesta vrs nova thing at pod on a fiesta site, and the site ben came from greeted myself and other members with open arms when we approached their thread and asked some questions, with no malice at all.

*ps its a gorilla in my avatar not a monkey  *

Alright matey! Im sure you will find what you are looking for on this site.
Vauxhall engines of all sizes and models taken to there limits ect ect.

Enjoy your stay. So what are some of the fiesta turbo boys pushing out then as in power and pod figures? Im sure ive read somewhere theres a few very serious motors been created out there?

Thanks for the welcome! :D

I just wrote a massive reply to all the above questions, then deleted it by accident! BOLLOX! :o

Lemme try remember what I said.....

The XR2 turbo boys are all building for in and around 200-250bhp. Though there are some guy's building for in excess of 300. There are gonna be some swift times soon.
Fastest I'm aware of was a 1.6 TT (Was a special option back in the day, a 1.6cvh with a turbo fed carb, and standard N/A cam) pulling a 13.8 at the pod. There are gonne be a few cars aiming to smash that this year/early next though.

As far as 1.3/1.4 tuning...there isnt much. The 1.3+1.4 engines are Both CVH (just as the XR2), so in the long run, it's easier to fit an XR2 engine...it's a straight swap. It's a shame, as it'd be sweet to see some short stroke screamers! I know of one guy building a 1.3 x-flow Turbo with external waste gate......on carbs, built it all himself, even down to the turbo manifold + downpipe. That'll be a monster when it's done!

Spec of mine?! I'll start at the beginning.
I got a really rotten shell back in february last year for free....and replaced both front wings, inner + outer sills, outer rear arches. Patched the boot floor, inner rears, inner fronts, fabricated a bridge from the wings to the front panel (always rots away between there) and patched the chassis rails. Also had to clear off a lot of surface rust. (thankfully mine is a Valencia built model, and therefore is more resistant to rot, a dagenham motor would've been unsalvageable given the same circumstances)

Resprayed it myself in Rover Nightfire red. Colour coded the kit, but not the bumpers, grille, mirrors + boot spoiler (dont often see this done)

At the minute, it's got a standard XR2 engine with the carb re-jetted and a K&N, 4 branch + Sportex exhaust system (as it was cheap). S2 Escort Turbo wheels, MK3 XR3 front lip spoiler (modded to fit), 'rare' '88spec Escort turbo Recaro's (rear seats + door cards soon to be retrimmed the same). Also gonna have mk3 XR3 dash clocks (once I figure out the wiring  ). Err.....I'm sure I'm forgetting something! :?
Oh yeah...it's got Rally Design Heavy duty springs on it.....Standard height at the rear.... -1" at the front.

Engine isnt gonna be standard for long. I'm in the middle of building something a lot wilder (though I'm trying to keep it a bit secret until I unveil it....as an example though, the head was fully worked by Ahmed Bayjoo's personal head guy, running huge sodium filled valves, beautifully ported and flowed, skimmed for 11.5:1 CR, with all the guides removed and valve stems waisted.... I could talk about the mods to it ALL day....) I've also got some Gaz adjustables to go on (after my Spax decided to fall apart after being on the car *brand new* for only a month....dont buy from them)....and some Wilwood 4-pots with 283mm discs (there's nary enough room between the caliper and inside of the wheel for a flattened fag packet! )
Gonna convert the rears to discs as well...when I get around to it (however, that's more cosmetic than performance, the standard rear drums are more than good enough in league with the 4 pots.) and it'll mean an adjustable brake bias valve will need fitting.

Err...I'm still sure I'm forgetting something....but not sure what! LOL!

Oh, also...I'm a dude...and the log in name is a long-ish story.

and I've come here from www.xrtwo.com 8)

here's all the pics I have of my car (not many, as my comp was re-formatted, and I lost EVERYTHING, all the build pics...the lot :( )

^^^ Please excuse the badly hung exhaust....it's a build problem, and the manufacturer have had MANY a system returned because of it! Bunch of tarts that they are!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/pornstarr/XR2/00f03e0e.jpg
^^Me, delerious after spending about 7 hours cleaning the car the day before 'Fiesta In the Park'. That was to be it's first showing in the flesh to all the fiesta kids...went down pretty well too (even though it shat it's sump gasket on the way and consequently lubed up the alternator belt..)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/pornstarr/XR2/7cdd02f6.jpg
And there it is on the stand at FITP.
I did have a couple more pics from that event (and it looked loverly)...and some pictures of it in motion on the way...

Any more questions, comments...feel free.

ALSO....I'm still TOTALLY up for a Fez VS Nov day......as soon as my engine is done!

i happen to like the mk2 festers, considering i have a lil 1.1 runabout in the garden. Its a "half" XR2 lookalike, as its got the bumpers, spoiler, but not the arches, etc lol. Its in a burgandy type red, and even though its sat not being used, i still love it.

You got any pics of the backend? i would love to see it :)

the fester was/is my first car. You never forget ur first car!

Here it is, pictured along side my Mk1 1300s. Which was until last sunday running a rather smokey 128bhp @ the wheels, and was an awesome sleeper (ex hill-climb 1600cc in it, with some seriously short ratio's!)....then the timing chain let go.....

Here's another.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/pornstarr/XR2/Picture_0021.JPG
though, it's still got the standard exhaust on there!
I really should get some new pictures taken

Oh, just noticed...where in Northants are you Mel (I presume you're part of the team that did Dan's car?! :? )...I'm being forcably held in Brackley myself!

It was pretty shifty! LIke I say, the close ratio box made the gears come and go pretty quick!

But....the timing chain let go....bent 4 pushrods, and 3 fell into the block...which jammed up the crank, and snapped a rod! :(

Woah, this place is full of people who should live near me!
SRS1......I'm originally from chester.....well, Dodleston. And my Grand rents live in E.port.

Dunno if you know all the cars round there...but I was once driving to the warner village, and saw a white nova coming the opposite way. Looked more or less standard, except for some SERIOUSLY wide arches, and wheels filling them up....Best nova I've ever seen!

(gotta admit, I love the wheel arches. So to see one with extra wide ones was pretty sweet)
