T40 Timing

I read my haynes and it says the timing is 10 degrees btdc but what is the correct timing with t40's as i konw you have to advance it but not sure how much

If you have a std dizzy then 11deg or so at 1100rpm on 40s will give around 31 degrees max timing at 5000rpm. (which is about right).

Or if you have a professional snap=-on type timing light, rev engine up and set the full advance and forget about the idle figure.
