input shaft on F20

i am in the process of changing the clutch on my valver nova. i have taken the old one out (through the access plate on the bottom of the gearbox) but when i was putting the new one in i can't get the input shaft to go all the way back in, even without the clutch in place.

Can anyone help me? or tell me why this is?
