sort of technical, sort of general question so I went with the general chat forum.

I want to know if anyone knows of a way to jack my car up high enough to put the 2.0l in without hiring an engine hoist again. I saw the pictures from Dec Burkes 2.0l conversion and he has his car up on some weird jack thing with two jacks either side. If all else fails I will get the hoist again but its a waste of money and hastle getting a van and picking it up just for one day.

Obviously Im talking about having the engine on the floor with the front end of the car jacked up in the air and lowering the car over the engine.

any ideas

Yeah it can be done. When i did my 1.8 conversion we put it in from under the car as the gearbox gets in the way and it saved taking the box off.

It mite take a bit longer but jack the car up high (u will need big axle stands), slide the engine under - get a jack under the engine and jack it up into place.

Three of us managed it although it was a bit tedious.

i just used 3 13" steels with tyres per side, to get them under i jacked using std nova jack and added a wheel at a time

16v Nova - Toolkit, Trouble, Points and great expence all come as standard :)
