in my car i have currently got a 450watt amp powering 2 6x9 speakers on the rear parcel shelf (rated 250watt).

I have just been offered a 260watt amp and a 1200watt sub cheap, so was wondering is it worth running the sub off the 450watt amp and switching the 6x9's to run off the 260watt amp?

If so, would i have to uprate my alternator for running all that equipment or would the standard one cope with it?

first make sure the 6x9's can cope with 260watt runnin through them and also i thought the 1200w sub wud be under powered but.... :?

depends what amps you have mate.

ie. splx 1000 watt, alpine 360 watt. which is better??

alpine of corse. splx cant power 10cm speakers never mind subs.
go with a top dog name if you want a decent system.
after all whats the point in spending cash on a sub when your amp cant power it? :)

yeh i suppose so, i dont think i'll be getting the sub then, i'll just stick to my current setup as its good enough for now.
