is there any reason to have 45's instead of 50's other than arch clearance? i am asking because i the price difference is quite a bit.

TYRE..........................45's...............5 0's..............? diff for 4

eagle f1 gs d3.............?57.................?47............ .?40
yoko a539..................?48.................?33..... ........?60

cheers

the tyres look better, and it makes your wheels look slightly bigger, i also think that there is a slight difference in handling between the two, with the 45s being better.

well I run 195 50 15 purely because they are the closest rolling diameter to 175 65 14 (standard GTE)

I wouldn't have thought smaller tyres ie 45s would improve the handling at all.

by the way Pirelli p5000 Drago are on special from my garages supplier, was ?150 inc VAT and fitting for all 4. may be worth asking

yeah 45's are better because they put your car closer to the road i.e better handling like a go-kart. i'm a tyre fitter so get the eagle f1's cus they've just won best tyre for the second year running getting top marks in no less than 5 catergories (spelling?) :)

i use eagle f1's because they are the best tyre in the wet, where you need good tyres most.

45's are (obv 5% less than the 50's) stiffer dur to the smaller wall profile.

goes in hand with the tyre pressure thing

you basically want the tyre wall to be hard as feck so that the suspension does its job.

much like the reason to fit polybushes to replace soft std ones

a softer tyre wall is benificial on rougher roads
hence why i use a 50 profile
the tyre tends to roll around a bit more and get a better contact patch on the road

i use 45 profile tyres as the diameter of the tyre is less than a 50 profile and therefore rolling radius is reduced, which results in higher revs per mph. i.e improves acceleration.

i've got the 195/50 15" f1's

don't want it reving any higher!! i'm almost in the red most of the time....

also with 45's the gap between the front arch is bigger
