View Full Version : is my nova a opel or a vauxhall?
i was just thinking.
i'm quite confused about my car. when i bought it it had opel badges on it, i thought that some one just stuck them on but when i looked inside it had a opel steering wheel and opel door pins :?
but i look on the V5 and it says Vauxhall nova, unless the last owner loved opels and tryed to turn it into a opel corsa, which is pretty unlikely.
maybe i'm just being stupid but is my car a opel or a vauxhall?

wernt all Opel's from europe, therefore meaning that they are LHD. Is yours LHD?
If so then yeah it will be an opel, but if its RHD then it will be a vauxhall with opel goodies.
well i guess its a vauxhall with opel goodies dan
Northern Ireland novas are Opel and RHD tho, so could be from there.
i never new that
so theres a chance its from there
ive got a opel corsa and mines a right hand drive
lol look at the vin plate under the bonnet if it says opel then its an opel becuase mine says opel on there but if it doesnt then the last owner must of liked opel lol
cheers mate i would really like to clear this matter up :?
nope its a vauxhall the last owner must have liked opels alot

My dutch cousin drives an opel corsa, which if in this country, would be called a vauxhall nova.
I drive a vauxhall nova, which if in holland, would be called a opel corsa.
Maybe its a mainland european thing.
:?
could be, i no that practically every european country has opel insted of vauxhall its one of those strange things
Vauxhall was bought by General Motors, and american company who also owned Opel and Chevrolet, Holden amongst others. They sell all the same cars with different names, eg opel corsa ,vauxhall nova, holden barina and chevrolet maxi are all names used on the different mocdels of corsa for different corsa's
I had a RHD Opel corsa, purchased in Germany (I still have the deutsch plates and my v5 said on it "registered overseas 1989")
It was purchased by a british RAF gunnery sergeant who then personally imported it to Blighty, and sold it on.
It bizarrely has an Opel vin plate, but a VX vin no.(!!) and says Nova on the V5
Confused??? You fu3kin' betcha!
yeah i no about the same car different names
we have the vauxhall omega austrialians have the holden commador
its just bloody confusing some times
in mainland europe its Opel but in this country its Vauxhall. Apparently its called a corsa in europe because in spanish, nova means ''no go''. not sure how true that is though
i no that its a vauxhall no-go ......nova now because i looked on the vin plate

Did they ever have the nova in Australia? If so what was it called there seeing as Holden name there cars differently to Europe and Britain?
the nova in austrialia was called the Barina but it wasn't based around a nova it was based around Suzuki Swifts :?
