if its a mk2 your twatty mates have joked about and turned your hazard switch upside down, it happened to me. just pull it out and pit it back in the right way up

yer, my timing is out and sometimes when the ignition is turned off the car used to carry on trying to run or start itself, sounds like a similar problem.

It could be a dodgy ignition switch so its not switching.
Or i read somewhere that it can be something to do with the alternator, it keeps going and so keeps the car ticking over.
Could be a dodgy alternator.

This happened to me i got home late and i tried to be as quiet as possible going into my street then my car wouldnt turn off and the neighbours complained.

Turned out what it was , was that my dvd player was in the car connected to 12v source but also was using its battery pack which some how was keeping the car going.

Dissconnected the dvd battery, car stopped!
