View Full Version : My home made engine mounts...
well got myself a set of new GSI/GTE mounts and filled them with tiger seal and bits of metal ect.
OMG my car shifts now :)
Made such a difference, almost no engine movemtent which is great, handling has improved so much, acceleration is brill, no gear stick movement.
Id say vibrations have increased slightly but its worth it!
so pleased!
BUT
My drivers mount(on nova), if you were to look at it from the front of the car, the bottom hole in body is bigger then the top one, and the bolt is sitting on the left hand side of the hole, not the middle, i dont get this

good stuff neil you got them on!! as for the hole thing at the drivers side, are you trying to say that the hole in the bodywork part of the mount is worn and stretched bigger than its ment to be??

So you're telling me that you have made your own engine mounts... the things that are supposed to keep the engine off the floor are things you have done by yourself??
Are you not concerned for your own safety or that of other road users at all? Are you infact TRYING to write the car off and get a world record?

LMAO, i dont need to try andy, think women are good enough to do that!
Well andy, its quite easy to make, i used a washing up liquid bottle, toilet tube and double sided sticky tape, on and a straw!
Or infact they could look like this.....

lol cant see how they make next to fuck all difference! i had t a s solid mounts on my 16v and a m8 has std old nova ones now on his 16v cant realy tell and difference, apart from putting more strain on the welded mounts and stress points

That has confirmed the bag of wank status.
:o looks strange, but if it improves the car with out being dangerous it could be good...
Come on guys, dont be mean. It's not like Neil has a car thats been written off more times than Cambridge has had Mcdonalds
Besides, he's lucky he doesnt have a heavy engine so the mounts wont rip away due to the extra stress and strain

P.S. good job the engine bays seam welded. It is seam welded isn't it... :|
camb had a 1/4 pounder with cheese meal and a chocolate shake for breakfast the other day. He is a porker

ive got TAS mounts on mine and they are REALLY harsh with the 1600 valver
doing what hes done is a proven method of stiffening up the standard mounts and stoping as much engine movement as possible but without rattling the chassis and occupants to fuck
im gonna buy a new set of stock mounts at the end of the month and do the same thing to them for mine as im trying to achieve a car that doesnt actually rattle
handbrake cable is the first to require sorting however
