i no this sounds stupid but when im braking the front end seems to vibrate a lot does this mean the discs are warped?? if so are they a pain to change?

yeh mate sounds like your front disks warped, if you curently have the standard brake set up, then i would advise you to get the astra 16v calipers and discks and pads. cause if you dont change your driving style the brakes will warp again.

a very simple, and cheap upgrade that is a definate for any nova driver. You need discs pad and calipers from any astra 2.0, cav 2.0 or calibra 2.0. Crimp brake pipe with something, remove brake line from caliper. The are two bolts holding the caliper to the hub, take these out and pull the caliper away. Now there should be a grub screw holding the disc to the hub, take this out (you might need an impact driver for this) and pull the disc away. Fitting is the reverse order

Standard 256mm are good enough. I was on a track day braking from about 120 to 50ish for 20mins with no brake fade what so ever. The only ting that happened was the brakes got that hot that the wheels nuts came loose becuase I think the hub must have expanded because of the heat

i have 16v front's with standard rear's and they performed very well on both track days i have bee on recently, everyone who went out in my car commented on my(crazy) late braking. i have vauxhall disc's and pad's and they took a absloute hammering with no fade or warping, the tyre's died before the brake's did

could also be sticking calipers. if a slider seizes on one side it'll vibrate like hell. or just heavily worn pads.

if you can't upgrade your brakes yet, remove the calipers and knock out the sliders. remove the rubber ring from the middle (not needed and half the reason why they stick) clean it all thoroughly then smear with copper grease and put them back. sliding them in and out to make sure the grease spreads then wiping clear any excess. replace the dust seals if they're perished. also add new pad retaining pins with a gentle smear of copper grease.

then when you can, get some cav/astra brakes.
