Anyone know a good website or link that has good detailed write up on how to do this?? I really want to give it a go. Plan is to buy a really cheap 1.2 hatchback, strip it and put two 2.0 8v's. cant see it being an expensive job. Just want to know about what I'm about to let myself into!!! good or bad! lol

i'm sure there are more than 2 twin engined nova's out there(boost beast, twin 2.0 8v's on ebay). Just cause we havn't heard of any more it don't mean they don't exist.

Thats whats I was thinking. Sure garages have projects tucked away elsewhere.

Don't bother with two 2.0 8v's unless your going to Turbo it. Get two 2.0 16v. They have much more potential and can be bought almost as cheaply as the 2.0 8v's.

but the 8vs will out pull the 16vs from the mark and they wont suffer from cracked heads like the 16v

Plus the 2.0 8v is a more common engine found in most cavvy's etc thus making them cheaper for parts etc.

I know people with the right tool's for the job so that shouldn't be a problem. It's just the clutch, gear linkages and throttle I think is going to be the big problem.

So far........

?40 for the Nova
?50 for a 2.0 8v Cavalier
?50 for the second 2.0 8v Cavalier
etc etc

I really don't think it's going to be an expensive project. Just time etc. Once me and my mates have done one then we'll take time and have the experience to do a pukka job on the second. First one is going to be an "experiment", second one is going to be the proper project!!!

lol i love it when you think something will be cheap to do.

all the little bits and pieces that your going to needs. and minor snags that you run into will soon make the coat add up.

as i said.

Surely the 130bhp 2.0 8v's come close to matching the performance of a 2.0 XE (standard).

mine would keep up with a standard xe nova up to about 60-70 then the xe would pull away

Yer the boost beast, saw that at max power live

very very odd that the quickest car at the show (without a doubt) was sitting outside with the crap show cars that wern't good enuff for inside

Saying that, it was an absolute shed, paint flaking off, bumpers hanging/not fitting properly, dents and rust in the roof (looked like someonething had been dropped on the edge of the roof)

saying that, bet it's rapid !

the bonnet catch failed... hence the dents in the roof :o
