i have seen in the forum that the turbo from an astra estate TD would be fine for petrol engines up to 1.4. I have a 1.3sr. But I dunno jack about diesels so i have a few stupid questions:

a cylinder head from a larger engine would make the compression ratio lower. is anyone familiar with the exhaust manifold from the astra TD (the one ive seen is T reg, 99) it would all be too easy if it a straight swap for a nova manifold. does anyone know if its a straight swap? and what cylinder head would be best, 1.4sr which i have(not fitted) or a gsi/gte?

what carbs/inlet manifolds have people used before when adding a turbo?

the head off the td wont fit the sr as they are completly different blocks / boresize etc. Dont know of anyone who has done a turbo'd carb's nova though, would be difficult butr interesting

eeerrrrm this discussion as come up before i think

Using the idea of a Blow through Turbo you'd easily beable to fabricate or get a fabricated manifold and use a similar set up to a R5 GTT

or as someone suggested before, somehow adapt the inlet manifold of a R5GTT carb and stick the whole system from that on.

using your idea above, the simple way to tell is to geta TD astra manifold and trace the pattern of the ports and see what they look like compared to your existing head, a SR head, GTE,GSi head. I'm guessing it'l be quite a lot different.

What about using the manifold off the 1.5 TD nova ?
